For my soundscape project, I’m focusing on the idea of a busy kitchen and the different sounds it creates. I recently watched The Bear, and it gave me a lot of inspiration. The way the kitchen in the show is so chaotic, but still runs smoothly, made me want to explore that balance. Even though there’s so much going on like people shouting, pots clanging, and food sizzling there’s also a strange kind of calm. It’s like everything has its place, and everyone knows their role, creating an organized chaos. My plan is to layer different kitchen sounds to capture this mix of noise and routine. I want to include louder sounds, like pans crashing, knives chopping, and people calling out orders, to reflect the pressure and intensity. At the same time, I’ll use softer sounds like boiling water, fridge hums, and footsteps to show the calm moments within the chaos. I also want the soundscape to feel like it has a rhythm, just like a kitchen does when everything is running smoothly. I’ll play with volume and timing to create moments that feel rushed and others that feel slower, almost like a breath between the madness. In the end, my goal is to make the listener feel like they are standing right in the middle of a kitchen, hearing everything at once. I hope this project will show how even in a space that seems loud and wild, there is a sense of peace and control hidden within.
